The Winemakers
WINEMAKER
Tyler Tennyson
A native of the Kitsap Peninsula, I grew up just a ferry ride from Seattle and earned my B.S. from the University of Washington in 2004 (GO DAWGS!). After five years in commercial real estate, I traded the desk for the cellar, moving to Walla Walla in 2009 to study at the Center for Enology and Viticulture.
My winemaking career began at Dusted Valley, followed by roles at Seven Hills Winery, Gordon Estate, Dunham, and the Corliss family of wineries. Along the way, I developed a deep appreciation for small-lot wines, minimal intervention, and allowing the vineyard, varietal, and vintage to shine.
Today, I focus on consulting and Girl and Pop Family Wines, a small Walla Walla project with my wife, Chelsea, specializing in handcrafted ancestral and méthode champenoise sparkling wines.
Outside of wine, I’m a husband and father of two who enjoys fly fishing, snow skiing, and all things Husky football.
WINEMAKER
Joshua Maloney
Joshua Maloney began making wine professionally in New York’s Finger Lakes thirty years ago. After working with cool-climate varieties such as Riesling and Gewürztraminer for two years, he relocated to California, working first for Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in Napa Valley and then Estancia in Monterey County. In 2005, he joined Chateau Ste. Michelle as Red Winemaker, running their Canoe Ridge Estate facility. After six years, he became Head Winemaker for Milbrandt Vineyards and Director of Winemaking for Wahluke Wine Company before leaving in 2016 to focus on consulting.
Joshua’s specialty is applying his extensive repertoire of winemaking techniques to accentuate the terroir of each parcel of grapes, creating wines that reflect the vineyard, variety, and vintage. Throughout his career, he has earned more than 150 scores of 90 or higher from major wine publications, worked with fruit from nearly every AVA in Washington, and created blends ranging from 21 to 300,000 cases. Joshua is a proud father of two, Fiona and Matthew. Outside of wine, he is passionate about cooking, music, and his continuing effort to finally reunite North and South Dakota.
